Introducing Harana: Our Serenade to You

Since the very beginning, Nica's Panaderya has been about more than just bread and pastries. It's been about sharing a piece of home, celebrating Filipino culture, and creating moments of comfort and connection through food.

Over the years, we've met incredible people, shared countless stories, and watched our little bakery grow into something we could only have dreamed of when we first started. Along the way, another dream quietly began to take shape.

Coffee.

A simple pleasure that has a way of becoming part of our daily lives. It's there in the early mornings before work, in catch-ups with friends, in moments of pause, and in the small rituals that help us slow down and reconnect. For my partner, coffee became much more than a drink , it became a passion.

Over the years, he immersed himself in the coffee world, learning everything he could. He attended coffee expos and festivals, took part in cupping sessions, explored different origins and flavour profiles, and even began learning the art of roasting beans. What started as curiosity grew into a genuine love for the craft and the industry.

As Nica's Panaderya continued to grow, it felt only natural that our dreams would eventually come together.

And so, Harana was born. Our coffee business.

Why Harana?

In Tagalog, harana means "serenade" , a song offered with affection and intention.

Eight years ago, my partner sang a song called Harana to me over the phone. Looking back now, it's one of those cute and slightly embarrassing memories that still makes us laugh. At the time, neither of us could have imagined where life would lead us.

Eight years later, we've built a life together, welcomed our beautiful baby into the world, and continue to chase our dreams side by side.

The name Harana felt perfect.

Not only does it reflect a special moment in our story, but it also captures what we want this business to be. In many ways, Harana is our serenade to you, a way of sharing our passion, our culture, and the experiences that have brought us here.

We're currently working behind the scenes, preparing for an exciting new chapter. There's plenty happening in the background as we get everything in place, but we're approaching it thoughtfully. This is a step, not a leap, and we're taking the time to build something meaningful.

Our first step begins at Barrio Fiesta Glasgow on 27 June.

We're excited to share that Harana will make its official debut under the Nica's Panaderya tent, where we'll be hosting our very first collaboration as sister companies. It feels incredibly fitting that Harana's first appearance will be alongside the business that helped inspire it.

We'll be serving a selection of drinks inspired by the Philippines, filled with nostalgic flavours, familiar comforts, and creative twists that celebrate our heritage. Expect thoughtfully crafted drinks that showcase the same care, quality, and love that have always been at the heart of Nica's Panaderya.

This is only the beginning for Harana.

We can't wait to welcome you to Barrio Fiesta Glasgow, share our first cups with you, and give you a taste of what's to come. There is much more on the horizon, and we'll be sharing more news soon.

For now, thank you for being part of our journey. Thank you for supporting our family, our bakery, and now, our newest venture.

We'll see you on 27 June.

With love,

Nica's Panaderya & Harana
